Boilerplate

Short (one sentence):

CondomShot is the world's first voice-controlled condom launcher — say the trigger word and it shoots a sealed condom gently into your hand.

Standard (one paragraph):

CondomShot (originally "Verhütungsschuss", German for "the contraception shot") is the world's first voice-controlled condom launcher: a touchless smart dispenser that hears a voice command, spins up a flywheel, and launches a sealed condom straight into the user's hand. Its trick: the device has no microphone — voice recognition is delegated to the assistant users already own (a Siri Shortcut calls the launcher's local Wi-Fi endpoint on its ESP32), so any phrase in any language works and the device can never eavesdrop. It makes safer sex effortless and fun in bars, clubs, hotels, universities, festivals, health centers and at home. A working prototype is live, CE certification is in progress, and preorders are open at €69 per device.

Founder

CondomShot is built by Henrik, a Germany-based mechatronics engineer who decided the least sexy object in the room — the condom bowl — deserved better engineering. He designed the electronics, firmware and launch mechanics himself; the project started as "Verhütungsschuss" and went from joke to working prototype before getting a name the rest of the world can pronounce. Available for interviews in German and English.

Story angles

  • The weird-hardware story: a flywheel condom launcher you fire by talking to Siri — the engineering of a joke taken completely seriously (technical deep dive).
  • The public-health story: STIs in Europe are surging while condom use falls; can making protection fun fix the last meter of prevention? (data & sources).
  • The nightlife story: venues turning safer sex into a party trick that guests film voluntarily (venue use case).
  • The privacy angle: a "voice-controlled" device with no microphone — recognition stays on your phone, the launcher only ever hears a web request on your own network. Eavesdropping is physically impossible, in the one room where that matters most.
